Evergreen shrub, 2-3m high. The root is woody with grayish brown outer skin and white inner skin. The old branches are dark gray brown with long spines, and the young branches are light brown. There are rusty scales. Single leaf alternate, leathery, long oval, 2-7 cm long, 0.6-0.5 cm wide, dark green above, glossy, silver gray below, rusty scales, so called "white green leaf". The flowers are white, usually 1-4 in leaf axils, perianth tube bell shaped, pedicel drooping, and each part has rust scales. Drupe long elliptic, about 1 cm long, covered with rust scales, pale red when ripe.
It grows on hillside, roadside and bush.
