[plant morphology] Coptis chinensis from Yunnan and Guizhou
Dwarf shrub, height about 20 cm. Stem erect, less branched. The lateral leaflets are sessile, the basal pair of the smallest, obovate or suborbicular, 0.5-1 cm long, entire. Cymes axillary; bracts triangular, pubescent; petioles short, with fleshy spines on them; calyx campanulate, 5-lobed, lanceolate, ca. 2 mm long; corolla white, 2 cm long, inner surface sparsely villous, 5-lobed, lobes ovate, apex short pointed, purplish red; tip of stamen filament tube lacerated; ovary superior, 5-locular, villous, stigma capitate. Capsule oblate, 5-obtuse, pilose. Base with persistent calyx; seeds flat. The flowering period is from May to September. The fruit period is from June to October.
Born in the valley forest. Distributed in Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi and other places.
