[plant morphology] Daidai flower, also known as Daidai orange, Huiqing orange and Huichun orange.
Evergreen shrubs or small trees, 5-10m high. Branchlets slender, sparsely short spiny. Leaves alternate; elliptic to ovate oblong, 5-10 cm long, 2.5-5 cm wide, apex acuminate, obtuse, base broadly cuneate, margin with microwavy teeth; wings broad; leathery, with translucent oil spots. Flowers solitary or clustered in leaf axils; calyx cup-shaped, apically 5-lobed, suborbicular, ciliate; petals usually 5, oblong, white; stamens about 25, filament base connected into bundles; ovary superior, oblate, style cylindrical, stigma capitate. The fruit is orange red (it remains on the tree and turns to dirty green in the next summer). It is nearly spherical, 7-8 cm in diameter, with enlarged persistent calyx. The pulp sac has about 10 petals. Seeds elliptic, apex cuneate. The flowering period is May. The fruit ripens in December.
It is distributed in the south of China and cultivated in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Guizhou.

[collection] pick the flower buds from May to June. First, dry them to 70% or 80% dry with quick fire, and then dry them to full dry with slow fire. Put it in a dry place to prevent moth and mould.
[herb] the dried flower buds are slightly oval, 1.5-2 cm long and 6-8 mm in diameter. The upper part is bigger, and the base has a petiole; the calyx is green, wrinkled, and the base is connected, with 5 lobes; the petals are 5 pieces, yellowish white or grayish yellow, and the top is covered with tile, with longitudinal lines on the surface; there are several bundles of stamens in it, yellow; there are pistils in the center, rod-shaped, ovary obovate, dark green. It's brittle. It is fragrant and slightly bitter. It is better to be dry, yellow and white in color, rich in aroma and no broken.
It is mainly produced in Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
[chemical constituents] flower buds contain volatile oil. The oil mainly contains limonene, linalool, geraniol, citronellol and valerenic acid. It also contains neohesperidin and naringin.
The peel of mature fruit contained 1-1.8% volatile oil, and the oil contained laurene, ocimene, isopinene, pinene, camphene, limonene, linalool, terpineol, nerol, farnesol, nerolidol, jasmonin, nonanal, decanal, octanoic acid, phenylacetic acid, benzoic acid, ortho aminobenzoic acid methyl ester, etc. The fruit also contains hesperidin, neohesperidin, naringin, orange pigment, citric acid, malic acid, salicylic acid and tannic acid.
The seed contains about 18% fat oil and limonin. The leaves contain stachydrine and volatile oil
