Perennial herbs, 20-60 cm high. The root is fleshy, irregular and yellow. Stem erect, upper part branched, longitudinally angulate. Leaf base clustered, with short petiole; long ovate or nearly spatulate, different sizes, apex obtuse or apiculate, base cuneate, leaf margin undulate or pinnately lobed, dark green above, purplish red below, both sides sparsely covered with long hairs. Inflorescence arranged sparsely; involucre campanulate, bracts 1 row, narrowly lanceolate, hairy, base with several bracteoles; flowers all tubular, orange yellow. Achenes linear, small, ribbed, white, soft, with many corolla hairs, flowering in summer.
It grows in wet ditch, roadside, hillside, stone crevice and under sparse forest. It is distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou and other places.
