Annual herbs. Stem erect, 50-120 cm high. The leaves are linear lanceolate, 10-40 cm long, 5-15 mm wide, glabrous or with bristles on them; the edge of leaf sheath often has fine cilia; the ligule degenerates into very short cilia, the panicle is cylindrical, drooping, 5-15 cm long, and the main axis has pilose; the spikelet is elliptic, about 3 mm long; the setae are usually green, 5-15 mm long; the first glume is broadly ovate, apex pointed, with 3 veins; the second glume has 5 veins, with 3 veins At maturity, the dorsal apex of the second flower (grain) is slightly exposed and very curved, and the degenerated branchlets (awn hairs) are very divergent from the inflorescence axis.
