Semi evergreen vine shrub, stem with edge, scattered hook shaped spines, densely felted or nearly glabrous when young. Leaves alternate, ovate to oblong ovate, 7-12 cm long, apex acuminate, base cordate, margin crenate and undulate lobed, sometimes slightly 3-lobed, nearly smooth glabrous; petiole 2-5 cm long. Panicles 8-14 cm long, flowers white, ca. 3 mm in diameter; sepals felted or subglabrous, usually glandular, persistent; petals rarely larger than sepals. The aggregate fruit is composed of many small drupes, which are nearly round and bloom from August to September. The fruit period is from October to November.
It is distributed in Shaanxi, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hubei and other places.
It is cool in nature and bitter in taste
