[plant morphology] Lysimachia polyphylla
Annual or perennial herbs, 10-30 cm high. All of them are densely covered with white or brown glandular hairs. Stem obliquely upward, base several nodes prostrate, nodes with fine adventitious roots, reddish brown, many branches. The leaves are papery, heart-shaped or ovate, ovate lanceolate, 3-5.5cm long, with eyelashes and glandular dots, dark green above and flesh red below. The flowers are solitary in the axils of the leaves at the top of the branches, densely capitate; the bracts are elliptic and leaflike; the calyx is 5-lobed, and the lobes are lanceolate; the Corolla is yellow, the lower part is tubular, and the apex is 5-lobed; the stamens are 5-lobed; the filaments are upper, oval, and stigma capitate. Capsule globose, brown, base with persistent calyx; seeds suborbicular. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from June to July.
It grows in the wet roadside grass of low mountains and hills. It is distributed in Sichuan, Guangxi and other places.

Functions and indications: dispelling wind, clearing heat and resolving phlegm. Treatment of wind heat, sore throat, cough, bloody stool, distension, abdominal pain, heat toxic sores.
