Wu zhuoluu
Wu Chou Liu (1900.6.2-1976.10.7.), from Xinpu Town, Hsinchu County, graduated from Taipei Normal School. He is a writer and teacher.
He was educated in Japanese when he was a child. He graduated from the normal Department of the "Mandarin" school in the governor's office of Taiwan. He worked as a teacher and a primary school teacher. Later, he resigned in anger because of the humiliation of Taiwan teachers by the county school. He ended his teaching career for nearly 20 years.
In 1941, he went to Nanjing to work as a reporter for the new newspaper. One year later, he returned to Taiwan. He successively worked as a reporter for Taiwan Riri Xinbao, Taiwan news, Xinsheng daily, and minbao. Later, he became a special member of Taiwan Machine Trade Association (1949-1965). He joined the poetry society and began to write in 1936. Wu Zhuoluo was an early local literature writer in Taiwan. His early novels were based on the life of the Japanese occupation His later works mainly reflect the post-war society of Taiwan, and his representative works are chief Potsdam and cunning ape. In addition to literary creation, Wu Chou Liu also founded "Taiwan literature and art" magazine (1964), and set up Taiwan Literature Award (1969) and Wu Chou Liu Literature Award (1969) to reward the backward and spare no effort.
