Character evaluation
Lu Yanzhou's works, on the one hand, insist on his own independent thinking, desalinate reality and enlarge human nature; on the other hand, form a unique aesthetic pursuit and narrative art character (review of time literature). The greatest feature of his novels is the entanglement of grand narrative and personal narrative, which is reflected in the theme, characterization, skills and other aspects of his novels. In the aspect of narrative skills, Lu Yanzhou's novels have an obvious tendency of patterning. The first is the patterning of plot setting, and the second is the "line struggle mode" of the novel's central plot (review of Jiangxi Social Sciences). In the early stage of his novels, Lu Yanzhou mainly focused on the description of rural things. Most of his works were praising the hard work of farmers, the great leadership of the party and depicting the beautiful blueprint of life. After the "Cultural Revolution", Lu Yanzhou, who brought up his pen again, mostly focused on the reflection and criticism of history in both urban and rural novels. The theme of these novels was the conflict between human nature or the fate of the characters and the revolutionary history. When he expresses the theme of the novel, he pays more attention to the expression of human nature and how people fight against adversity through efforts (Fu Xueping of Guangxi Normal University).
