Growth experience
When Liu Jiren first came to the United States, he did his doctoral dissertation in the National Laboratory of computer systems, Computer Research Institute, National Bureau of standards. At that time, Liu Jiren's laboratory did the TCSP (trend certified security person) standard, so Liu Jiren's research was also related to that standard. These studies were very forward-looking at that time, and were far from practical application. What makes Liu Jiren curious is that he works with a professor from the University of Maryland. He is always able to get research funding from government agencies such as the National Bureau of standards, as well as from companies such as IBM and HP.
It's a novelty for Liu Jiren that university professors participate in enterprise R & D. in China in the 1980s, it's a disgraceful thing for professors to do business. People usually regard such people as not doing their proper work. Liu Jiren felt at that time that another world, that is, it is very important for the world itself to merge and span. That is to say, if you are a professor, you may have to cooperate with the industrial sector. Because enterprises want to make products in the future, they have to join in research very early. The funding for scientists is limited. Enterprises support research and development through funding, and get scientists together to optimize resources. This seems to be a matter of course today, but it touched Liu Jiren at that time.
Liu Jiren once had many dreams, many of which made him unable to realize. Even in the most difficult times, Liu Jiren also had dreams. Liu Jiren's first job was as a gas rescue worker in Benxi Iron and steel plant. Where there is a gas leak, you will appear. This is a very dangerous job. If you don't pay attention, you will die in the explosion at any time. Liu Jiren is very optimistic. He can work as an electrician, paint, take photos and play movies. He can also play many musical instruments: Violin, flute, erhu, Jinghu and guitar Liu Jiren can play all kinds of musical instruments. He can also repair watches, radios, cameras and motorcycles Liu Jiren used to make iron pistols and rifles from molten iron, and polished iron plates into daggers. Even in the harsh environment of the factory, Liu Jiren remained happy.
Hard work
In 1988, the software and Network Engineering Research Office of the computer department of Northeast Institute of technology was established. Liu Jiren just came back from abroad and joined the research office with great ambition. However, the reality is desperate: one and a half research rooms, three broken computers, and the funds are very poor. At that time, Liu Jiren could not afford to be an enterprise, so his first goal was not to do business, but to try to be a technology transfer center with the slogan of "building a bridge between school research and social application". As a result, after a period of time, one of the biggest problems is the conflict between ideal and reality. Few enterprises live well and they have no money. Who can give Liu Jiren money. And they all tried their best to do short-term work, so later they forced Liu Jiren to try to set up such a company with long-term ideals, transfer Liu Jiren's own technology to this company, and then do it slowly. The biggest problem is that he has no money. After a while, Liu Jiren is very depressed. At that time, Professor Liu Ren was 33 years old, but he didn't want to do anything for himself. One day, the university informed Liu Jiren of a meeting, saying that alpai Co., Ltd. of Japan was visiting China, hoping to find a research group to undertake the internal software system of automobile and cooperate with Northeastern University in mechatronics. As one of the representatives, Liu Jiren made a speech like others. Liu Jiren talked about his views on the research plan, which inspired the Japanese at that time. They thought Liu Jiren's speech was unheard of before. After the talks, the Japanese said they wanted to cooperate with Liu Jiren and let him talk about this topic in Japan. Liu Jiren told him awkwardly that he had no money, not even the air ticket. So they paid for the whole process and asked Liu Jiren to talk about this topic in Japan. This trip to Japan led to the cooperation between Northeastern University and alpai. This is the first step taken by Liu Jiren's Neusoft. When he saw alpai's intention to cooperate, when it comes to development funds, Liu Jiren clenched his teeth and set a sky high price of US $300000. Did not expect that the other side agreed, let Liu Jiren some unprepared. In fact, at that time, Liu Jiren's equipment was not good, and there were few people. What they could show was their scientific research ability. The next was their hunger and passion for starting a business. A group of professors were scolded for being improper and working day and night. Liu Jiren insists on honesty. When Liu Jiren cooperated with the Japanese, if he had no money, he would have no money. The alpists questioned them and said that they would not operate. Liu Jiren frankly said that we are university professors, which is really not good. Liu Jiren doesn't like exaggeration.
There is no big difference between scholars and entrepreneurs in essence. For example, if you want to be a professor, you have to think about how you can become a professor as quickly as possible; if you compare with enterprises, it is the speed and turnover of your business growth. In fact, Liu Jiren was not very willing to be an enterprise at the beginning, and he was still very exclusive psychologically. This psychology is reflected in the initial establishment of the entity called Dongda alpai Software Research Institute, rather than calling it a company. But at the time of registration, it was not the company that could not be registered. At this time, Liu Jiren reluctantly added a bracket after the Research Institute - "limited company". But when we use it, we seldom add the bracket.
Liu Jiren has always been an academic and research worker. He started a company to make money. Frankly speaking, he has a strong sense of remorse. And at the beginning of his business, Liu Jiren knew almost nothing except R & D. For example, if you don't understand finance, Liu Jiren always doesn't understand the accounting theory that "this equipment is worth 10000 this year, and can only be counted as 5000 next year.". In order to find out where the five thousand yuan went, Liu Jiren went through many financial books. Liu Jiren's idea at that time was not only to live, but also to eat. At that time, no one believed that people from Northeastern University and Shenyang could do software. In order to build up his image, Liu Jiren had to set up offices in Beijing and Shanghai. They were asked where they were
