Laba porridge
Introduction:
"Today is the annual Laba Festival again. It is also the most important festival of the twelfth month, the eighth day of the twelfth month, which is called & quot; La day & quot; in ancient times, and commonly known as & quot; La Festival & quot;. Since the early Qin Dynasty, Laba Festival has been used to sacrifice ancestors and gods, praying for harvest and good luck. It is said that Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism, became a Buddhist on the eighth day of December. Therefore, Laba is also a festival for Buddhists, which is called & quot; Buddha becoming a Taoist festival & quot;. Laba porridge is also called Qibao Wuwei porridge;. The history of eating Laba porridge in China has been more than 1000 years. It began in the Song Dynasty. Every Laba day, whether it is the imperial court, government, temple or the people's home to do Laba porridge. In the Qing Dynasty, the custom of drinking Laba porridge was even more popular. In the palace, the emperor, Empress and prince all gave Laba porridge to the Minister of culture and military affairs and the maid in waiting, and distributed rice and fruit to the monasteries for the monks to eat. In the folk, every family should also make Laba porridge to sacrifice their ancestors; at the same time, the whole family get together to eat and present to relatives and friends. After the Laba porridge is cooked, we should first worship the gods and ancestors. After the gift, be sure to send it out before noon. Finally, it's for the whole family. The leftover Laba porridge has been preserved for a few days, and what is left is a good omen, taking its meaning of "surplus every year". If you give porridge to the poor, it's more for yourself. Every year during the Laba Festival, several large pots of Laba porridge are cooked in our local temples to give alms to the local people. On the day before the Laba Festival, in addition to the monks in the temple, many Buddhist disciples and local people who believe in Buddhism joined in making Laba porridge. The next day, before dawn, people from all directions came to the mountain with pots and pans. They lined up a long line, waiting for porridge. Everyone hoped to get enough porridge on the mountain. On the one hand, it means eliminating disasters and diseases, preserving health and longevity; on the other hand, it means good weather and good harvest. In the past, every year on Laba Festival, I also received congee from my friends. As this year's Laba Festival happens to be a good Saturday, I happen to have time today. So, I got up early in the morning to prepare the ingredients and cook a pot of Laba porridge by myself. When it comes to the ingredients of Laba porridge, there are different recipes everywhere.
