Introduction:
[sago] sago is warm in nature, sweet in taste, invigorating spleen, moistening lung and resolving phlegm. Edible starch made from carbohydrates stored in the trunks of several palms. English Name: tapioca, or sago. The main raw materials are metroxylon rumphii and m. sagu, two kinds of sago palms originated in Indonesia. Sago palms grow in low-lying swamps, usually 9 meters high, dry and coarse. After 15 years of maturity, it grows a flower spike, and the stem pulp is full of starch. When the fruit forms and matures, it absorbs starch and makes the stem hollow. The tree died when the fruit was ripe. The cultivated sago palm is cut and split when the flower ear appears. The pulp containing starch is taken out and ground into powder. Water is added to knead and filter the wood fiber above the filter. After washing several times, sago powder is obtained and eaten locally. The exported sago is made into paste by adding water, and then rubbed through the sieve to make particles. According to the particle size, it is divided into Pearl Sago or pellet sago. Sago is almost pure starch, containing 88% carbohydrate, 0.5% protein, a small amount of fat and Trace Vitamin B group. In the southwest Pacific, sago is the main food, and its coarse powder is used to make soups, cakes and puddings. Around the world, the main way to eat is to make pudding or sauce thickener. It is used as stiffening agent in textile industry. In Indonesia, Sailan Island, Borneo, the area of simi palm forest is very large.
