Lion dance, also known as "Lion Dance", "lion lantern", "Lion Dance" and "Lion Dance", is an important part of traditional Chinese acrobatics. Lion dance has a long history. It is popular in the Han nationality areas of China. It frequently appears in the Spring Festival and other festivals and celebrations. Through lively performances, it expresses the good wishes of Chinese people to pray for good luck and eliminate disasters. The forms of lion dance in different parts of China are different, and the regional characteristics are very distinct. It is generally divided into two categories: South lion and north lion. South lion is vigorous and ferocious, and most of them perform difficult skills. North lion is cute, and most of them play.
Waga Buyi Gaotai lion lantern dance is a folk dance popular in waga village, Maling Town, Xingyi City, Guizhou Province. It was introduced into Panjiang River Basin in the Eastern Han Dynasty and gradually became popular after the Three Kingdoms and the northern and Southern Dynasties. During the yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, lion dance was widely spread among Buyi people in this area.
During the performance of Buyi people's Lion lantern dance, six or eight eight immortals tables are used to form a high platform. The top one is turned over and the lion is hovering from the bottom up, sometimes turning and sometimes jumping. In this process, the lion completes the thrilling movements of turning, rolling and folding. After reaching the top, the lion danced in the air on the four feet of the table. In this kind of flying performance, waga's Lion lantern artists will quickly and accurately jump over with difficult "jumping" skills, showing superb Kung Fu. The percussion instrument of Gaotai lion lantern is called "loudspeakers", which is composed of horse Gong, bowl, hall Gong, drum, etc. there are more than 100 kinds of playing methods, which are novel and unique, with great changes.

It vividly shows the production situation, living customs, religious belief and ideal pursuit of Buyi Nationality, and plays a positive role in enhancing national cohesion and carrying forward excellent national culture. In recent years, Gaotai lion lantern dance is facing survival crisis, and it is urgent to formulate effective protection measures for rescue and protection.
