Caizha is a kind of traditional folk craft which is popular in the north and south. It is closely related to sacrifice, festivals, entertainment and other folk activities. After continuous derivative development, it has formed a huge influence in the folk. The technique of color binding is mainly based on bone paper mounting, supplemented by surface painting. Due to different customs and products, there are some differences in the specific materials. In some places, straw is used as bone instead of bamboo strips, and plain colored cloth, silk or leather paper is used as surface. In Handan, Hebei, colorful cloth is directly mounted with various kinds of cloth. The color decoration will also have its own characteristics due to the changes of regions. Generally speaking, the northern color bar is bold and unconstrained, with strong contrast; the southern color bar is delicate, lively and lovely. Colorful products are rich in form, including lantern, lion head, stage, ancient model and so on. The lion's head and other handicrafts are often created based on the opera facial makeup of the origin, and then made with cloth, hemp, silk flowers and other accessories, which can often achieve a vivid and vivid state.
Foshan lion head is a kind of folk arts and crafts style which is popular in Foshan area of Guangdong Province. Its craftsmanship originated from the Ming Dynasty. It has a history of more than 200 years since it was formally developed in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Foshan lion's head draws on the modeling characteristics of Guangdong stone lion and pursues the spirit resemblance. Exaggerated and romantic expression techniques are adopted in the shape and decoration design. The process of binding consists of bamboo strip binding (modeling framework), paper flapping (Molding) and surface assembly (decoration). According to the modeling, the lion head can be divided into three categories: Wenshi, Wushi and Shaoshi. Wen lion uses Liu Bei and Guan Yu's facial features as his face makeup to show his gentle and docile manner; Wu lion uses Zhang Fei's facial features to reflect his brave and aggressive character; Shao lion is a kind of lion head mask, which is specially used for children's play. According to the features of the face and color of lion head, we can divide them into Liu, Guan, Zhang lion and color lion. The shape of Foshan lion head is exaggerated and romantic, powerful and funny, vivid and lovely. The patterns of lion's head are bold, vigorous, flexible, compact and vivid. The color is clear-cut, the tone is bright, and the rhythm is strong, which fully demonstrates the different personality and style characteristics of various lions. Foshan lion's head pays attention to decorative effect. Different colors of facial makeup are equipped with different colors of accessories, which make each other shine. It looks vivid and unique. The anthropomorphic shape, rich in national characteristics of color, colorful decoration and exquisite craftsmanship make Foshan lion head with distinctive local characteristics and become a typical representative of Southern lion head art. Lion head in Foshan is a very important tool in local folk festive activities and mass martial arts sports activities. At present, lion dance has been listed as a folk traditional entertainment project in Foshan, and the martial arts competition in the name of lion head has spread all over China's South China, Hong Kong, Macao, Southeast Asia and even European and American Chinese residential areas, playing a positive role in the inheritance and development of traditional culture and the communication between Chinese and foreign cultures effect.
