Lusheng is a multi pipe reed instrument popular among Miao, Dong, Shui, Gelao, Yao, Zhuang, Yi and other ethnic groups in Southwest China. It is composed of Sheng pipe with spring, Sheng Dou, blow pipe and resonance tube. When playing, hold the body with both hands, gently press the finger holes of the left and right rows of Sheng pipes with thumb, index finger and middle finger, with blow pipe in the mouth, and make the sound by blowing and exhaling. Lusheng has a unique pitch, which can produce octave, fifth, sixth, fourth harmonic and triad effects.
Dong Lusheng is a kind of traditional folk musical instrument widely spread in Tongdao Dong Autonomous County of Hunan Province. It has a history of more than 2000 years since it was developed from the ancient reed instrument. According to the different playing forms and performance techniques, Lusheng can be divided into six kinds: ground pipe, extra large Lusheng, big Lusheng, middle Lusheng, small Lusheng and the smallest Lusheng. Traditional Lusheng has three tones and 12 tones. There are 12 tunes in Lusheng of Dong nationality, which are mainly composed of Jiqu, Jintang, trampling, Shanglu, Zou and huanqu. There are three kinds of notation symbols in Lusheng, namely, Chinese phonetic notation, modern notation and Dong notation.
Dong people often use a Lusheng that can produce the highest pitch as the leader and conductor, with two high pitch Lusheng, three middle pitch Lusheng, ten sub middle pitch Lusheng, two low pitch Lusheng, one double bass Lusheng and one ground pipe to form a Lusheng band. According to the specific situation, the band can also have other forms of instrument configuration. Traditional Dong Lusheng dance has many forms of performance, such as self blowing and self dancing, self blowing and self blowing. Musicians often dance while blowing, making a large swing from left to right. When performing solo and duet, they need to rotate and squat sometimes. The most important feature of Dong Lusheng performance is to win by breaking sound and trembling and high difficulty dance movements. Dong Lusheng performance has strong local characteristics, which has been carried on for a long time.
Lusheng is an indispensable part of Dong People's life. It attracts people's attention with its distinctive national characteristics and provides a vivid example for the study of folk music and Yunnan local folk custom. At present, with the rapid development of market economy, Dong Lusheng culture is facing the danger of disappearance and variation. Most of the members of Lusheng teams in Tongdao County are over 40 years old, and there is a fault phenomenon of performing talents in some places. Under this situation, the rescue and protection of Dong Lusheng culture is urgent and must be carried out immediately.
