Applicant: Yulin City, Shaanxi Province
Yulin ditty is a kind of singing form of Quyi, which is formed and popular in Yulin area of Northern Shaanxi. It is said that it was brought from Jiangnan by Kabuki raised by officers stationed in Yulin area in Ming Dynasty. Later, in the long-term development and evolution process, it was sung in local dialect and absorbed local folk tunes, which enriched and improved into today's quyi variety.
The performance form of Yulin ditty is one or two lead singers, many of whom are accompanied by dulcimer, guzheng, pipa, Sanxian, Jinghu and diezi, and sing in different professions. Its singing music is very rich, the singing style is Qupai style, or single repeated, or Lianqu string singing. The accompaniment musical instrument repertoire mostly interprets the content of men's love for women and children's love, especially good at expressing the sorrow of separation and resentment from this life. The traditional programs of Yulin ditty are short and long. Sunset and dusk, prostitute's complaint, kite flying, Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai and Zhang Sheng's play Yingying are all representative works.
In history, Yulin ditty was mainly sung by fans in the way of self entertainment, and later appeared as a means of begging, street singing, hall singing and high-level business performance. In the cultural life of the local people, Yulin Xiaoqu played an important role. However, up to now, the development of this art form has encountered the difficulty of lack of inheritance, facing the risk of loss, so we need to try to protect it.
