A brief introduction to King Pan festival of Yao nationality
Applicant: Hezhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region
The Panwang festival of Yao nationality originated from the song festival of Panwang Festival on October 16 of the lunar calendar. On this day, the Yao people gather together to sing and dance in memory of King Pan, and gradually develop into King Pan Festival. Today's King Pan Festival has gradually developed into a gathering to celebrate the harvest. Young men and women take this opportunity to sing their love songs and find a good couple.
The "King Pan Festival" of Guoshan Yao, also known as "huanpan Wang Yuan", is held by a single family or the whole village. The time limit of King Pan festival includes three days and three nights and seven days and seven nights, and its ceremony is mainly divided into two parts. The first part is "invite saint, arrange position, Shangguang, Zhaohe, Huanyuan, Xie Sheng". In the whole ceremony, the suona band accompanies the whole process, and Shigong Dances "Panwang dance" (Tongling dance, sending troops to collect soldiers dance, yuebiao dance, sacrificing soldiers dance, catching turtle dance, etc.); the second part is to invite the ancestors of the Yao nationality and the whole people to come to "liule", which means play in Yao language. This is the main part of the Panwang Festival. We sincerely invite all the ancestors of the Yao people to participate in all kinds of literary and entertainment activities of the Panwang Festival and sing the historical poem "Panwang Dage", which shows the Yao people's mythology, history, politics, economy, culture and art, social life, etc. The ritual of music flow usually takes place one day and one night.
The ceremony was held by four princesses of Zhengshi, who performed their respective duties, including Huanyuan division, Bingji division, bingshang division, Wugu division, one assistant for each, and a total of eight people. In addition, four songniang singers, six boys and girls, one drum artist and suona band participated in the festival. The way of inheritance is mainly from teachers and family.
As a popular festival with a long history and wide distribution, the Panwang Festival is a grand ceremony to enhance the national centripetal force and maintain the national unity.
