Zhangzhu town belongs to Yixing City, Wuxi City, located in the southwest of Yixing City, Jiangsu Province. It extends to hufei town in the East, Taihua town and Changxing County in Zhejiang Province in the south, Xizhu town in the west, Xinjie street and Xushe town in the north, covering an area of 188.94 square kilometers (2017), including a water surface area of 5000 mu. The permanent population was 86900 (2017). The built-up area of the town is 3.8 square kilometers. The people's Government of Zhangzhu town is located in Renmin North Road of Zhangzhu, 25 kilometers southwest of the city government.

Shanjuan town was merged in 2000, and mingling town was merged in 2004. Zhangzhu town is located in the southwest of Yixing City. At the beginning of 2005, the town had 19 villages including Donglong, chating, Zhuyuan, chaqian, Nanmen, Beimen, Dushan, Fenghuang, Wudong, Feili, Xingdong, Zhuling, Geba, Furong, Lingxia, Changgang, Baishan, Longchi and Shengzhuang, and 12 communities including Dongjie, Xinhua, Xinjie, Xijie, gongnongjie, Houjie, xiachang street, Yinhu, Taoxi, Shuibu, Shanjuan and mingling. On December 9, the municipal government approved the adjustment of Nanmen village and other six village committee areas in Zhangzhu town (yizhengfa No. 246): first, Nanmen village committee and chaqian village committee were merged, and the merged name was Nanmen village committee. 2、 Wudong village committee and Feili village committee were merged and named Wudong village committee after the merger. 3、 Furong Village Committee and Geba village committee are merged, and the merged name is Furong Village Committee.
The original Shanjuan town was Shanjuan Township in 1949, changed to commune in 1959, changed to township in 1983, and improved in 1993. In 1996, it covers an area of 47.6 square kilometers and has a population of 15000. It has jurisdiction over 14 administrative villages including Wudong, Shanggan, Nanbu, Feili, Xiadong, Shangdong, Guoshan, Zhuling, Hexing, Huangshu, Geshan, Nanba, Yushan, Furong and the neighborhood committee of Shanjuan town. In 2000, the town was withdrawn and merged into Zhangzhu town.
The former mingling town was mingling Township in 1949, changed to commune in 1959, and changed to township in 1983. In 1996, it covers an area of 64 square kilometers and has a population of 14000. It governs nine administrative villages, namely Lingxia, Ganli, Changgang, Chachang, Baishan, Pingyuan, Longchi, Shengzhuang and Taohua. Zhangzhu is located at the junction of Southern Anhui mountain area, Yili hilly area and Taihu Lake plain area. It belongs to Yili low mountain and hilly area. In the southeast of the terrain, there are hills, undulating and continuous, extending to southern Anhui and Western Zhejiang. It is generally called Sanzhou mountain range, which is the northern extension of Tianmu Mountain. The mountain is composed of Devonian quartz sandstone. The mountain is thin and broken. The mountain is gentle and low, with an altitude of 200-300m. The northwest part is flat and gradually moves to low-lying, with an elevation of 3.5-5m. Zhangzhu basin is composed of Permian and Triassic limestone.
Zhangzhu town landform can be divided into three levels: the first level is plain area, the ground elevation is below 10m, mainly distributed in North Central and northeast, the land type is mainly mountain field; the second level is gentle slope, the ground elevation is generally between 10 ~ 50m, the land type is mainly hilly and dry land; the third level is hilly and low mountain area, the ground elevation is above 50m, mainly distributed in Southeast and southwest Department.
Most of the mountainous areas in the south of Zhangzhu town are sandy soil with more gravel and less gravel. Most of the soils in the East are developed on limestone. In the west, they are hilly areas with clay and sandy loess. In the north, there is a long and narrow plain polder field, which is generally yellow soil and white soil. In the low-lying area, there are black soil and Wujin soil. In the hilly Valley, there is Magan soil. In the piedmont plain, there is small silt. Yellow soil is distributed on both sides of large natural rivers, and white soil is distributed a little farther away.

With an annual output of nearly 5000 tons of tea, Yangxian xueya, Shanjuan Chunyue, Zhuhai Jinming and other famous teas have won the special prize in the "China tea" cup competition for many years. Marble is rich in resources with reserves of about 16 million cubic meters. Among them, pink cream marble is known as "Yixing rose" and has been exported to foreign countries for many times, enjoying a good reputation in European and American markets.
