Furao Township, belonging to Yi'an County, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, is located in the southeast of Yi'an County, with Baiquan County in the East, Mingshui County in the south, Lindian County in the West and Shuangyang River in the northwest. The total administrative area is 332.27 square kilometers. The township government is 62 kilometers away from the county seat. In 2019, nine administrative villages will be under the jurisdiction of the rich countryside. In 1915, it was named jiaojiayao because the surname Jiao opened a tile pot kiln here. In 1984, it was changed from Furao commune to Furao township.

Name and origin

In 1915, it was named jiaojiayao because of the fact that the people surnamed Jiao opened a wapen kiln here. In 1956, it was changed to Fulao township.

In 1915, it was named Jiaojia kiln. In May 1932, it was changed to Yinan. In 1938, it was changed to Jiaocun. In 1946, it was changed to Xinglong district.

In December 1950, it was renamed District 8. In May 1955, it was renamed Xinglong district.

In January 1956, it was renamed as Furao district; in February of the same year, it was renamed as Furao township.

In 1958, Furao township was transformed into Furao commune. In 1984, Furao commune was transformed into Furao township.
