History of construction

In 1945, it belonged to beibaiding district.

In 1956, the five villages of yangjiaqiao, yaoqianzhuang, yujiaguan, qianhoujiazhuang and houhoujiazhuang were returned to Hexi township; yuliangzhuang and yuliangzhuang were returned to Kuang township; the rest were returned to Gaoyu township.

In 1962, Yaoshan commune was merged into Gaoyu commune.

In May 1984, it was designated as Gaoyu district.

In 1986, it was changed to Gaoyu township.
