Buddhist temple town
Fosi Town, belonging to Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County of Liaoning Province, is located in the southwest of Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County, 20 kilometers away from Fuxin city. It is a hilly area in western Liaoning Province. It is adjacent to yimatu town in the south, Wangfu town in the north, Dongliang town in the East and spider mountain and Qijiazi Township in the West. Its total area is 118.53 square kilometers. At the end of 2018, the registered residence of the Buddhist temple town was 12186.
The name of Fosi town comes from Ruiying temple. Ruiying temple is commonly known as Mongolian zhenfoye Lama Temple, referred to as "Buddhist temple". In April 1958, after the establishment of Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County, the Buddhist temple autonomous township was abolished and the Buddhist Temple Township was established. In September 1983, the commune was transformed into a township. In 1995, the township was transformed into a town. As of June 2020, Fosi town has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages.
In 2018, Fosi town had 78 industrial enterprises and 10 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution
In the spring of 1947, Sumu branch and Qi branch were established in the Buddhist temple area. In November of the same year, the Buddhist temple town was liberated.
In April 1958, after the establishment of Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County, the Buddhist temple autonomous township was abolished and the Buddhist Temple Township was established.
In September 1983, the commune was transformed into a township.

Name and origin
The name of Fosi town comes from Ruiying temple. Ruiying temple is commonly known as Mongolian zhenfoye Lama Temple, referred to as "Buddhist temple".

Ruiying Temple
Ruiying temple, the center of Tibetan Buddhism culture in Inner Mongolia and Northeast China, is located in Fosi village of the town. The temple was built in the eighth year of Kangxi reign of Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 300 years. Mongolian people call Ruiying Temple "Gegen Sumu" and Chinese translation "Foye Lama Temple" for short. In 1999, Ruiying temple was rated as one of the eight major tourist attractions in Fuxin by Fuxin Municipal People's government and Fuxin Tourism Bureau.
