Nanhu Township, Minqin County, Wuwei City, Gansu Province is located in dengmaying lake. It is a large lacustrine basin in the west of Tengger Desert. It is 65 km from Minqin County in the northwest, 60 km from Liangzhou District in the southwest, and bordering on Alxa Left Banner in the East. It covers a total area of 331 square kilometers, with an available area of more than 200000 Mu and cultivated land of 18633 mu.

Regional overview

Nanhu Township, originally a grassland brigade, was set up in 1983. It is a unique animal husbandry base. In 1991, Minqin county took the measure of "invigorating the dam, benefiting the lake and developing the two wings", and established the Nanhu development headquarters to implement the water development and utilization by immigrants. The township governs seven administrative villages, namely Nanjing, Maoying, Xijing, Xiqu, Dongxin, malinjing and jiagangjing. In 2005, there were 1055 households with 35000 people, including 1 primary school, 8 teachers, more than 100 students, 2 rural health centers, shops, grain stations, restaurants, agricultural machinery repair shops, gas stations, telecommunications stations, mobile communication agencies and other units. It belongs to three types of villages and towns in Minqin.

Economic situation

In 2005, the gross domestic product of Nanhu township was 12.04 million yuan, the per capita net income of farmers was 1486 yuan, and the investment in fixed assets was 800000 yuan. It sows 7900 mu of wheat, produces 11390 tons of grain and 4785 kg per capita. 7300 mu of cash crops and 7500 mu of other crops. There are 20000 sheep in stock and 20000 sheep out of stock.
