Xiejiatan township is an important town in the northern border of Poyang, bordering Jingdezhen City in the East, Jiujiang City in the west, Jiujing Expressway in the south, Dongzhi County in Anhui Province in the north, and the hinterland of the golden triangle of Chang, Jiu and Jing.

Xihe River, one of the four water systems of Poyang Lake, meanders through the town, forming a natural and beautiful landscape. With a total area of 227 square kilometers and a population of more than 14000 households and nearly 70000 people, our township has jurisdiction over 19 administrative villages and a neighborhood committee. Cultivated land area of nearly 60000 mu, the main crops are high-quality rice, tobacco, cotton, soybean, sweet potato, rape, sesame, peanut and so on. The mountain forest covers an area of 204000 mu, most of which are natural forests with dense vegetation. The green area is more than 33%, and the water surface for aquaculture is more than 7000 mu. According to the preliminary exploration, the underground minerals include Liujiashan copper mine, yujiawu lead zinc mine, Dayan limestone mine, Dongbao Phosphate Mine and Yufan gaolingshan marble. Xiejiatan town is located at the junction of Poyang Lake Plain and hilly area, with low mountains and hills in the north and plain in the south, with an altitude of about 20 meters. The town is located in the southern plain. The terrain of the town is high in the north and low in the south. The hilly area accounts for nearly 60% of the total area, the agricultural area accounts for 16%, and the rest are rivers and lakes and other areas. In addition to paddy field, the town soil is mainly covered by red soil and yellow soil with uneven thickness.
