Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, Chifeng City had four gates, East, West, North and south. Under the wall of the north entrance of laoxixin street, about two miles east of the west gate of Sandao street, there was a boundary stone more than one meter high engraved with "xidatun boundary". Hence the name of Xitun street.
