Xiaoyuan township is located in the west of Nanbu County, Nanchong City, 50 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Yuzhen Township in the East, Fuhu Township in the south, Huacan Township and Liuyi Township in the west, and Jin'an Township in Yanting in the north. The township covers an area of 30.5 square kilometers, with 12101 mu of cultivated land, 17 administrative villages, 132 communities and 6630 people (2017).
The origin of place names
Named after xiaoyuanshan in the territory, there is a round hill near the market. Originally named xiaoyuanshan, it was simplified as xiaoyuanshan. The market was called xiaoyuanchang. Before 1950, it was under the jurisdiction of Liuyi Township, and it was established in 1950.
Location overview
Xiaoyuan township is located in the middle section from Jianxing to Yanting Fuyi in the south of Provincial Highway 101, 55 kilometers away from the county seat. The altitude is 425 meters. The land is shallow and fertile.
In 2004, it covers an area of 31.62 square kilometers, with 13742 mu of cultivated land and 0.91 mu of cultivated land per capita. In 2004, the total population was 16033, the agricultural population was 15175, the non-agricultural population was 858, and the total number of households was 4020. There were 17 administrative villages and 132 villager groups under its jurisdiction. The main ethnic group was Han nationality. It grows rice, wheat, corn, rape, peanut and cotton all year round. The township has a health center, 17 village level health and medical stations, 1 Township Primary School, 3 village primary schools and 1 private school. By the end of 2007, the rural power grid meter reading project has been fully completed. There are 1516 program-controlled telephones, 1128 mobile phones, 30 home computers and one communication station for China Mobile and China Unicom. The construction area of the town is 0.6 square kilometers, and there are more than 700 residents. There is an integrated market, and the market trade is very active. The forest coverage rate is 42%. By the end of 2006, there were 2 primary schools, 1 junior high school department, 6 village level schools, 39 teaching classes, including 30 primary schools and 9 junior middle schools, 1658 students and 78 in-service teachers. Nine year compulsory education had been popularized. There are 1 Township Health Center, 15 village health stations and 13 medical staff. There are 7936 people in the township, 2043 families participate in the new rural cooperative medical system, and the participation rate is 52.3%. 12 villages, 75 villager groups and 1008 households have opened optical fiber encrypted TV, which can receive 32 sets of programs. 930 program-controlled telephones are installed, and the mobile communication network covers the whole township. Every village has access to roads, 3 villages have access to oil roads, 2 villages have access to cement roads, and 8 villages have completed the project of rural power grid reform and meter reading to households.
By the end of 2006, the natural population growth rate was below 1%, and the family planning rate was 96%. Adhering to the main line of structural adjustment and the goal of increasing income, adopting the form of "base + farmers", a new dly sow base, 3 large pig marketing households, 3 grain and oil trafficking households, 3000 mu of newly planted mulberry garden, 1 large Chinese herbal medicine household, 10 mu of vegetable greenhouse, 2000 mu of double low rapeseed and 500 mu of early maturing peas were built, and the grain economy ratio of the whole township was 6:4. 1750 mu of farmland and soil have been changed in the township. One township level irrigation pumping station, two secondary level irrigation pumping stations and one tertiary irrigation pumping station have been built, with a total installed capacity of 6578 kW. Nine village level irrigation pumping stations have been built, with a total installed capacity of 198 kW. 69 kilometers of Dounong canal, 45 kilometers of branch canal, 300 meters of inverted siphon, 26 water storage ponds and reservoirs, 9 Shihe weirs and 1550 water reservoirs were built, with effective water storage of 8.97 million m2, basically ensuring the drinking water for human and livestock and agricultural water.

By the end of 2006, the gross domestic product of the township was 65.25 million yuan. The total financial revenue was 1.4264 million yuan, the per capita net income was 2 594 yuan, an increase of 295 yuan over the previous year. The total grain output was 13 415 tons, an increase of 37% over the previous year. The total rape output was 1 250 tons, an increase of 9% over the previous year. The total cotton output was 82.5 tons, an increase of 13% over the previous year. The total peanut output was 875 tons, an increase of 12.3% over the previous year Last year, it increased by 2.3%. In Heping Village, two new owners were introduced to build 200 mu of "maoguanshan ecological botanical garden", 50 mu of "Zhonghua Shoutao" was planted in changshuwan of the village, one Prefabrication Yard and one blood powder factory were built, and two shale brick factories with an investment of 500000 yuan were built. Wenxingchang village has introduced 200 mu of loquat to the new owners, and Xiaoyuan Township Primary School has introduced one owner to build a new teaching building of 1100 square meters, student apartments of 1870 square meters, and hardened playground of 5000 square meters.
