Hongwei Township, subordinate to Longxi County, Dingxi City, Gansu Province, is located in the north of Longxi County, bordering Tongwei County in the East, quanjiawan town in the south, Anyi town in the West and Anding District in the north, with an administrative area of 136.69 square kilometers.

History of construction
In May 1950, Xiujin and Zhongping were established.
In October 1955, the two townships were merged into Xiujin township.
In March 1958, Jinshan Township of Dingxi County was assigned to Longxi County.
In May 1959, it was Hongwei and Jinshan management area of tonganyi commune.
In April 1961, Hongwei commune was established.
In June 1962, Jinshan commune was established.
In May 1965, Jinshan commune was merged into Hongwei commune.
In 1983, it was changed to Hongwei township.

Hongwei township is located between the edge of the Loess Plateau in the northwest and the hilly area of Qinling Mountains. The terrain is north-south, high in the north and low in the south. The main mountains are Panlong mountain, Lianhua Mountain and huajianhe mountain. The highest point in the territory is located in fengbaozi mountain of Jinger Village, with an altitude of 2310 meters; the lowest point is located in zhongzhuangchuan of qijiaqu village, with an altitude of 940 meters.
