Dongjing Town is located in the north of Songjiang District, Shanghai, with Xinqiao Town in the East, Sheshan National Resort in the west, Zhongshan street in the South and Sijing town in the north. In 2013, there were 9 communities in the town, 4256 households registered residence, 12997 registered residence population, and the total area was 24.51 square kilometers, of which 480.2 hectares were cultivated land.

History of construction
Tang Tianbao ten years (751) cut Kunshan south, Jiaxing East, Haiyan north, set Huating County, under Zhejiang Xidao, Dongjing area belongs to Huating county. In 1277, Huating county was promoted to Huating Prefecture and led by Huating county. A year later, Huating mansion was renamed Songjiang mansion. In the third year of yuantaiding (1326), Songjiangfu was terminated, Huating county was transferred to Jiaxing Road, which was subordinate to Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and shuiyongtian envoys were set up to govern Songjiangfu; in the first year of yuantianli (1328), shuiyongtian envoys were abolished, and Songjiangfu was restored, and Huating County was still subordinate to Songjiangfu. In 1368, the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, Songjiangfu was transferred to Nanjing; in 1645, the third year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty, nanzhili was changed to Jiangnan province. In 1656, Huating county was established as Lou county. Dongjing area belongs to Jixian Township and Huating township of Lou county. Dongjing harbor east is Liubao, 36bao, 37bao and 38bao of Huating township. Dongjing harbor West is 38bao of Jixian township. The temple boundary involved is xiangze Temple boundary, Shizi Temple boundary, Niucun Temple boundary and yangheze Temple boundary. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Huating county and Lou county were merged into Huating County under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. In 1914, Huating county was renamed Songjiang County. Dongjing area belongs to Sijing district and Dongwai district. In 1927, it belonged to the seventh district office. in the autumn of 1929, the district system was tried out by provincial decree, and it was subordinate to Tangqiao Township, xidongjing Township, Dongjing Township and Xintai township of Sijing district. In 1936, it belonged to the second district office. In 1937, the Anti Japanese war broke out. During the Japanese puppet rule, it belonged to Sijing district and Dongwai district. On May 13, 1949, Dongjing area was liberated. In July 1949, there were districts below the county level, and Dongjing district was divided into Sijing District, Chengdong district and Chengxi District, which belonged to Songjiang County, Songjiang special district of Southern Jiangsu administrative office. Under the District, there are five small townships, namely Xinnong Township, Minzhu Township, Dongjing Township, Rengang Township and Sanlong township. In 1952, the southern Jiangsu administrative office was abolished, and Dongjing Prefecture was subordinate to Jiangsu Province. In July 1957, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. Dongjing area belongs to Silian Township and Chengbei Township respectively. In March 1958, Songjiang District of Jiangsu Province was abolished and Songjiang was assigned to Suzhou District. In September 1958, the rural system was abolished and people's communes were set up in rural areas. Silian township was transformed into Dongfanghong people's commune, and Chengbei Township into happy people's commune. In November 1958, Songjiang County was transferred to Shanghai. In April 1959, Dongfanghong people's commune was renamed Silian people's commune, and Xingfu people's commune was renamed Chengbei people's commune. Dongjing area is under the jurisdiction of the two people's communes. In March 1978, Zhuanqiao people's commune was built in Dongjing area, and it was renamed Dongjing people's commune in November 1980. In February 1984, Dongjing people's commune was changed into Dongjing township. In August 1993, Dongjing was removed from the township and built into a town. in February 1998, Songjiang County was removed from the county and built into a district. Dongjing Town was under the jurisdiction of Songjiang District.
