Xinhe Town, belonging to Meihekou City, Tonghua City, Jilin Province, is located in the east of Meihekou city. It borders Chaoyang town and Shengshui Town of Liuhe County in the East, Xingling Township in the south, Hailong town in the West and niuxinding town across Huifa River in the north. It is 37.5km away from Meihekou City, with a total area of 148.69km2.

In the late Qing Dynasty, the area of Xinhe Town was once called Shaoguo street, with Haida community, belonging to Hailong Fumin hall; in November 1984, it was changed from Hewa commune to Xinhe Town. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in Xinhe Town was 28310. As of June 2020, Xinhe Town has 16 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the town people's government is stationed in Xinhe village.

History of construction

At the end of the Qing Dynasty, it was once called Shaoguo street, with Haida society, belonging to Hailong Fumin hall.

During the period of the Republic of China, taipingchuan township was established. During the period of northeast occupied by the Japanese, taipingchuan village was changed and a police station was set up. In 1936, it was changed to xinhepu. In 1946, Hebao village was rebuilt. In 1947, it belonged to Taiping District.

In 1956, it was changed into Xinhe township.
