Da-lin-jen
The name of the old town. See Jintai town for details. Dalin town is a town level administrative unit under the jurisdiction of Shunqing District, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. It is located in the north of Shunqing District, 20 kilometers away from the urban area of Nanchong, covering an area of 18.4 square kilometers. It now has 9 administrative villages and 81 villager groups, with a total population of 8735 people (2017). By the end of 2014, the average net income of the town was 9669 yuan.
Evolution of organizational system
According to the records of Shunqing District, Dalin township was originally named Gaokeng Township because of the Gaokeng river flowing through the territory. It was built in May 1952 and renamed Dalin Township because the township government moved to the location of Dalin temple, an ancient Buddhist temple. In 1954, Dalin township was merged into Jintai township; in 1962, the system was restored; in 1992, it was merged into Jintai town again, and Dalin district was established; in March 1995, Dalin office was established; in August 1997, the system of township was restored. in September 2015, the township was officially removed to build a town. in 2019, Dalin town will be abolished and its administrative area will be put under the jurisdiction of Jintai town. The people's Government of Jintai town is located at 19 Jinguang street.
History and culture
At the beginning of the reign of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Jiuyan Yinli, a Zen master, came to Sichuan with suwang HAOGE. Later, he lived in Dalin temple. He gathered together disciples to preach scriptures and founded LINGJI school with 40 characters, which became the Dalin School of Buddhism in the Qing Dynasty. In the early years of the Republic of China, local people Pang Mingqin and Pang Yiru founded the primary school of higher education in the North District of Nanchong county with Dalin temple as their school building.
