Old town name. See Jiuxian town for details. Yuanjiu county is located 40 kilometers southwest of Hequ County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, on the East Bank of the Yellow River. With a total area of 56 square kilometers, 3255 households and a total population of 8212 people.

Jiuxian township has an average altitude of 1065m, an average annual temperature of 8.8 ℃, an average annual precipitation of 380mm, a frost free period of more than 130 days, strong wind and sand, drought, and serious soil erosion. It is a typical loess hilly area and a semi mountainous township.

The agriculture in old counties and townships mainly includes millet, potato, corn, beans and castor.

Evolution of organizational system

The volcanic army was built in 982, the seventh year of the Taiping reign of the Song Dynasty, and the volcanic county was set up in 1067, the fourth year of the Zhiping reign. Therefore, it is located in the old counties and townships 35 kilometers southeast of Chengguan. Xining four years (1071) waste volcanic county. In the first year of Jin Zhenyuan (1153), Hequ County was established. In the 22nd year of Jin Dading (1182), the volcanic army was promoted to volcanic state, which belonged to the county. At the end of Dading, the volcanic state was changed to Qingzhou, and the Northeast Road of Lihe. In 1265, Hequ County and Qingzhou were abandoned. The second year of Hongwu (1369) of Ming Dynasty restored Hequ County, abandoned in six years, and re established in thirteen years, belonging to Taiyuan Prefecture. In 1724, it was transferred to baodezhou. Qianlong 27 years (1762) County moved to this rule. in 2019, the township will be set up as an old county town.

Jiuxian township is located 40 kilometers southwest of Hequ County, facing the Yellow River in the west, Fugu County of Shaanxi Province across the river, xunzhen town in the north, shaping Township in the East and Shiliang Township in the south.
