Sanquan Town, belonging to Nanchuan District of Chongqing, is located in the east of Nanchuan District, bordering Dayou town and Daozhen County of Guizhou Province in the East, Toudu town in the south, Dongcheng Street and Nancheng street in the West and Yuquan Township in the north. It is 11 kilometers away from the residence of Nanchuan District people's government, with a total area of 191.5 square kilometers.
In 1667, Sanquan town belonged to Fuli Liujia. In October 1992, Longfeng, Sanquan, and Shaocai villages in banhe Township and Dongsheng township were merged into Sanquan town. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population in San Quan town was 20321. As of June 2020, Sanquan town has 2 communities and 6 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the people's Government of the town is located in Sanquan community.

History of construction
In 1667, Sanquan town belonged to Fuli Liujia; in 1910, banhe township was established.
In October 1958, it was changed into banhe commune.
In December 1983, banhe commune was changed into banhe township.
In October 1992, Longfeng, Sanquan, and Shaocai villages in banhe Township and Dongsheng township were merged into Sanquan town.
In November 2001, mazui township was designated as Sanquan town.
