specialty
Beiguan is a radish producing area in Weixian county. Weixian radish, also known as "Weixian green radish" or "gaojiaoqing", is a local specialty of Weixian county and a famous excellent variety of radish in Shandong Province. Weixian radish was originally produced in the western suburb of Guwei County, and Beigong plot (now Beiguan Street, Weicheng District, near Beigong) is the best, so it is also called "Beigong Radish". Beigong belongs to Beiguan, so it is also called "Beiguan Radish". Later, with the continuous expansion of the city scale, the production area gradually moved to the north near dongxiazhuang, Beiguan Street. After 1950, the provincial agricultural department listed the purification, rejuvenation and quality improvement of Weixian radish as a scientific research project, and the yield and quality were continuously improved through collaborative research. Radish cultivation in Weixian county has gradually developed from the suburbs of Weicheng to Changle, Shouguang, Hanting, Fangzi, Kuiwen, Anqiu, Qingzhou and other counties and cities, and the area has been expanding. In 1998, Weicheng district took the lead in registering the "Jufeng" brand Weixian radish trademark. Weixian radish has been cultivated for more than 300 years. When Zheng Banqiao, a famous calligrapher and painter in the Qing Dynasty, was the magistrate of Weixian County, he wrote "Weixian radish is famous all over the world" in "quanpu", and wrote a poem on a gift list to an imperial Minister: "Northeast ginseng Fengyang pear is hard to reach Weixian radish skin. Today's generous gift to the imperial envoy can exorcise demons and bring good luck. Shandong folk also have "Yantai apple Laiyang pear, as Weixian radish skin" ballad. Weixian radish is a good product of vegetables and fruits, which can be used as both vegetables and raw food. It can be fried, mixed, stewed and pickled. It was one of the main vegetables in autumn, winter and spring. The local people like to eat raw food, often used to entertain guests. Weixian radish, weighing about 500 grams each, is known as "vitamin Radish". It has the functions of appetizing and invigorating the spleen, clearing away heat and toxin, regulating qi and reducing turbidity, eliminating food and resolving phlegm. There is a saying among the local people that "when you eat radish and drink tea, you don't need the doctor to take the medicine.". Green radish has preventive and therapeutic functions on esophageal cancer, intestinal cancer, gastric cancer and lung cancer, and it can reduce the incidence rate. Weixian radish has three varieties: Daying, Xiaoying and erdaying, and erdaying is the best. They all belong to flower leaf type with dark green leaves. The fleshy root is cylindrical, and the aerial part accounts for 3 / 4, which is green. Daying radish has strong growth, white and green meat, light spicy, and is suitable for cooked food and pickling. Xiaoying radish is weak in growth, dark green in color, thin and crisp in texture, sweet and fragrant in taste, and is suitable for raw food. The characteristics of erdaying radish are between the two. The meat is compact, the color is green, crisp, sweet and juicy, the raw food is like fruit, and it has a slightly spicy flavor, so it is also called "fruit Radish". The so-called "Weixian Radish" usually refers to this variety. Weixian radish enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad, and has been awarded "geographical indication products" by AQSIQ.
