Luocheng Street

Luocheng street is located in the north of the central part of Luoding City, Guangdong Province. It is the residence of Luoding people's government and the political, economic and cultural center of Luoding city. In 2019, the area of Luo Cheng street was 19.1 square kilometers, with 10 neighborhood committees, 105 thousand registered residence and 250 thousand permanent residents.

Luocheng has a long history and profound culture. In the eighth year of Dade in Yuan Dynasty (1304 AD), the government of Longshui County moved from Kaiyang township (now in Chuanbu) to yanglubu (now nanpingwei), Jianshui Township, to build government offices and schools without a city. In 1448, in order to prevent Yao people from attacking, the Department of Longshui county began to build earth city. In the fifth year of mingjingtai (1454), Zhou Gang, the magistrate of Longshui County, moved his county office to the northwest riverside of today's urban area. From the eighth year of Dade in Yuan Dynasty (AD 1304), the government office of Luocheng town was established in Longshui county. Since then, Luocheng Town, as the residence of county, prefecture and city governments, has a history of 700 years, with profound cultural accumulation and outstanding people.

The construction of Luocheng district has undergone several changes. In the early Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Jianshui township of Longshui county. In the fifth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1577), it was designated as the "one city in Luoding Prefecture". In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the "one city group" of Luoding Prefecture. In the early Republic of China, it belonged to the "one city in Luoding county". In 1935, it was renamed as "Luocheng town". The name of "Luocheng" appeared from then on. In the early days of the people's Republic of China, Luocheng was subordinate to Luoding County, and was upgraded to a district level town in April 1950. In September 1958, it merged with Tanjing, Sulong, Chini, Shuangdong and other townships to establish Luocheng commune. At the end of 1959, the jurisdiction of Luocheng commune changed, only governing the original Luocheng town. In July 1964, the commune was abolished and the town was renamed Luocheng town. In 2009, the town was removed and streets were built. By the end of 2011, it had jurisdiction over 10 communities, including Eastern District, Southern District, Western District, Northern District, Shiwei District, Xikeng District, Ganyuan District, Chengdong district and Quwu district.
