Liuji town is located in the west of Yangzhou City, 13 kilometers away from Wenchang Pavilion in the center of Yangzhou city. It has obvious location advantages, superior terrain, beautiful ecological environment and convenient transportation. The Yangye line is embedded in the hinterland, the Caowu line runs through the north and south, and the Xinyang expressway runs through the East and West. It is the gateway from the back mountain area of Yangzhou to the city of Yangzhou, known as "the back garden of Yangzhou".

In December 2019, Liuji town was selected as "civilized town of Jiangsu Province in 2016-2018".

In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name Liuji town as a national health Township in the period of 2017-2019.

Liuji town is a typical hilly area. It is 13 kilometers away from the west suburb of Yangzhou city. No.43 unmanned bus connects the West District of Yangzhou new town and Liuji town by Yangye line. It has obvious location advantages, superior geographical location, beautiful ecological environment and convenient transportation. It is only 5km away from Ningqi railway and Wenchang West Road. It is the gateway to Yangzhou in Yizheng middle and back mountain area, known as "Yangzhou back garden". There is our famous Western Suburb Forest Park in Yangzhou, covering an area of 7000 mu, with a forest coverage rate of more than 85%. It is the largest natural oxygen bar in Northern Jiangsu. There are golf water training ground, tennis court, water park and Bailongtan resort in the park. It is also a place of leisure and entertainment for people.

Liuji town was formed by the merger of Liuji and Gujing townships in 2000, covering an area of 90.65 square kilometers, with a population of 45918 (in 2017), and an agricultural population of 42800. It has jurisdiction over 2 communities, 17 administrative villages, 55 party branches and 1236 party members. Among them, there are 18 branches of government organs and institutions, 17 administrative village branches, 2 community branches and 18 branches of non-public enterprises.

It borders yangshou town and Yangmiao town in Hanjiang District of Yangzhou City in the East, Xincheng town and Xinji Town in the south, Chenji town in the West and Dayi town in the north. It covers an area of 90.65 square kilometers and has a population of 45918 (2017). It has jurisdiction over 2 communities and 17 administrative villages. There are two market towns, Liuji and Gujing. The town government is located in Liuji Town, 22 kilometers south of the city.

Located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, Jianghuai watershed is mainly hilly area. The mountains in the southwest of the town belong to the veins of Dabie Mountains. Scenic spots include Yangzhou Western Suburb Forest Park, which is the largest forest park in Northern Jiangsu. Longhe River, Youyi River and yangshou River are the main water diversion rivers. Yangye highway, Yangtian highway, national defense highway, Yiwei Cao highway and historic sites. There are more than 500 tombs of Qin and Han Dynasties, and the tombstone of Zhongyi soldiers erected at the west end of Gujing old street in the 9th year of qingguangxu.

It is said that a long time ago, businessmen surnamed Liu were well-known for their business activities here. Therefore, after the formation of a market town here, they got the name of liujiaji, commonly known as Liuji. Before liberation, it belonged to Jiangdu county. After liberation in 1949, it was transferred to Yizheng county and established Liuji Township, belonging to Chenji district. It was changed to Lingqiao District in April 1950, Chenji District in 1953 (June 1954?), and Lingqiao District in 1956.

In 1957, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged into Liuji township. In September 1958, it was incorporated into the Guyang commune and changed into Baiyang commune. In February 1959, Liu Ji commune was set up from Baiyang commune. Gujing commune was merged into Liuji commune in April 1960, and restored in 1981. In January 1984, it was changed into Liuji Township and Gujing township.

In 1996, Liuji Township, with an area of 50 square kilometers and a population of 24000, governed 13 administrative villages including Baiyang, Guancang, Xiayao, Pangu, Lianhe, Liuji, Shuangzhu, Fengchan, Huangying, Jianjun, Lianhe, Ma'an and Heying; Gujing Township, with an area of 45 square kilometers and a population of 24000, governed Liuxiang, Tiepai, Gujing, Zhongxin, Caoping, Xuegang, Gaopeng, Yuanjing, Limin, Baishou, cangfang and chenjing Xiang, Zhangzhu 13 administrative villages.

In April 2000, Gujing Township and Liuji Township were abolished and Liuji town was established. In 2003, it has jurisdiction over two neighborhood committees of Liuji street and Gujing street, and 24 administrative villages of Liuji, Jianjun, Lianhe, Pangu, Fengchan, Huangying, Lianhe, Xiayao, Guancang, Baiyang, Shuangzhu, Heying, Gujing, Limin, Zhongxin, cangfang, Baishou, Yuanjing, outline, Liuxiang, Gaopeng, Tiepai, Xuegang and Chenxiang.

In 2004, it covers an area of 90 square kilometers, including 13000 mu of water surface. The town has a built-up area of 2.0 square kilometers and a population of 45000. It governs 17 administrative villages including Liuji, Lianhe, Pangu, Jianjun, Huangying, Lianhe, Xiayao, Baiyang, Gujing, Limin, Zhongxin, cangfang, Baishou, Liuxiang, Gaopeng, Tiepai and Chenxiang, and 2 street communities including Liuji and Gujing.

economic development

In recent years, under the guidance of the scientific outlook on development, Liuji town has intensified the adjustment of agricultural structure, accelerated the pace of attracting investment, and formed distinctive primary, secondary and tertiary industries.

1. It's a real estate. In recent years, the agricultural structure has been gradually adjusted, and the agricultural layout of South tea (tea production) and North Water (aquaculture) has been initially formed. The tea production area of the whole town is 2800 mu, with an annual production of 14 tons of Baiyang brand tea, and there are 10 large tea growers represented by walnut. The town's aquaculture area is 4500 mu, with an annual output of 525 tons of fish and shrimp and an output value of 3.15 million yuan. Farmers' breeding industry mainly includes pigs, geese, ducks and chickens.

2. Second industry. Over the past few years, Liuji town adheres to the goal of strengthening the town through industry, with the characteristics of cultivating excellent "four tools", expanding machinery and strengthening light industry. 3. Construction. Liuji town has always adhered to the principle of multi development, and vigorously developed the construction industry. Yizheng Taihe construction and Installation Engineering Co., Ltd., with the second-class national qualification, realized the total construction and installation value of 250 million yuan and the construction output value of 180 million yuan in 2005.

4. Third industry. Taking characteristic tourism and leisure as the main body, we should actively do a good job in planning, promoting and publicizing the Western Suburb Forest Park. Liuji is a big business town with active market and strong popularity.
