Dunkuotan Township
Dunkuotan Township, belonging to Yuli County, Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the southwest of Yuli County. It is connected with Tarim reclamation area of the second agricultural division in the East, Qiemo County in the south, kaerquga Township and Luntai County in the west, and Puhui township of Korla City in the north. It is 24 kilometers away from Yuli County, with a total area of 15468.9 square kilometers.
In October 1958, dunkuotan township was under the jurisdiction of Weixing fourth commune; in May 1984, it was changed from donghetan commune to dunkuotan township. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population of Dun Kuo Tan was 4531. In 2019, dunkuotan Township governs five administrative villages, and the Township People's government is located in Aji village.
The main economic crops in dunkuotan township are cotton and so on; animal husbandry mainly raises sheep, cattle, horses and donkeys. In 2018, dunkuotan township has 16 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
History of construction
In October 1958, the third district was changed into the fourth satellite commune.
In October 1959, the fourth commune was renamed donghetan commune.
In May 1984, donghetan commune was abolished and dunkuotan township was established.

Dunkuotan, Uyghur, means sheep pen on sand dunes. The name of the original site is Laisu, which means muddy water.
