Xitun town
Xitun Town, subordinate to Lingtai County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, is located in the northwest of Lingtai County, adjacent to Dudian town in the East, Zhongtai town in the south, Shizi town in the West and Jingchuan County in the north. The total area of the administrative area is 132.45 square kilometers, and as of 2018, the registered residence population of 17783 people was in the West town.
It is said that Guo Ziyi, a general of the Tang Dynasty, once stationed troops in the west of the county, hence the name. In the Ming Dynasty, Xitun town was set up. Before 1949, it was Xitun township. After 1949, it was divided into Zhongtai and Shizi districts. On February 28, 2015, the Standing Committee of the 16th National People's Congress of Lingtai county held its 22nd meeting and passed the motion of removing the township from Xitun Township and changing it into a town. As of June 2020, Xitun town has jurisdiction over 15 administrative villages.

Xitun town is located in the gully area of the Loess Plateau. Most of the area is dominated by tableland. The tableland surface is divided by large and small gullies.
