Shizi town
Shizi Town, belonging to Lingtai County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, is located in the north central part of Lingtai county. It borders Xitun township of Lingtai County in the East, Xinghuo township of Lingtai County across Jianhe river in the south, Shangliang township of Lingtai County in the West and Taiping Township of Jingchuan County in the North. The total area of the administrative area is 174.63 square kilometers, and as of 2018, the number of registered residence in the town was 31682.
Shizi town is named because its administrative center is located at the intersection of Lingqian highway and jingling highway. In Ming and Qing Dynasties, Shizi town was established. Before 1949, it was Shizi township. After 1949, Shizi district was established. In December 2003, BEIGOU township was merged into Shizi town. As of June 2020, Shizi town has jurisdiction over 28 administrative villages.
At the end of 2011, the average net income of farmers in Shizi town was 3218 yuan. In 2018, Shizi town has one industrial enterprise and 27 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution

In Ming and Qing Dynasties, Shizi town was established.
Before 1949, it was Shizi township.
After 1949, Shizi district was established.
In 1957, when the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, Shizi township was set up again.
In 1958, Shizi commune was established; when shitutai was incorporated into Jingchuan County, Xitun commune was incorporated into Shizi commune.
In 1961, after the restoration of Lingtai County, two communes, Xitun and Jingjing, were separated.
In 1964, crystal commune was merged into Shizi commune.
In 1980, Shengli commune (now in gouquan village of Shizi town) was separated from the original crystal commune.
In 1983, the commune was transformed into a township.
In 1986, the township was removed and the town was built.
In December 2003, BEIGOU township was merged into Shizi town.

At the end of 2011, Shizi town had 26 villager committees, namely Changpo, Qianjin, wanlitao, qinggangpu, Miaotou, yaozipo, Lijiazhuang, caojialaozhuang, Hanjiawan, Zhaojiagou, Xijiao, yaojiagou, Zhongyong, caomai, yinmazui, liangjiazui, wazui, Jingjing, gouquan, luojiazhuang, Nangou, Nanzhuang, Zhaiyang, Shengli, Guojiazhuang and Beigou.
As of June 2020, Shizi town has jurisdiction over 28 administrative villages, and the town people's government is located in Changpo village.

Shizi town is located in the southern edge of Longdong Loess Plateau, which belongs to the gully region of Loess Plateau. The terrain is slightly higher in the West and lower in the East, higher in the South and lower in the north. Most of the terrain in the territory is mountainous plain, with an average altitude of 1375.6 meters.

Shizi town has a temperate monsoon climate. The annual average rainfall is 501.2 mm. The rainy season begins in late June and ends in early October. The main precipitation is concentrated in July, August and September (especially the heavy rainstorm on July 23, 2010, with the precipitation reaching 680 mm); the annual minimum precipitation is 247.6 mm (May 15, 2009). The annual average temperature is 10.5 ℃, the annual frost free period is 179 days, the average temperature in January is - 4.39 ℃, and the extreme minimum temperature is - 14.8 ℃ (December 15, 2007); the average temperature in July is 26.7 ℃, and the extreme maximum temperature is 41.19 ℃ (May 15, 2009).

The territory of Shizi town belongs to Jianhe river system. Jianhe river enters from the west of Nanzhuang village of Shizi Town, passes through Nanzhuang village and Nangou village of Shizi town from west to East, and enters Daxi river of Lingtai County, with a total length of 13.5 km.
natural disaster
The main natural disasters in Shizi town are hail, drought, flood, strong wind, low temperature, frost and so on. The most serious heavy rainfall was on July 23, 2010, which affected 26 villages in the town and caused economic losses of 14.758 million yuan. The most serious hail was on July 15, 2011. The hail lasted for 20 minutes, involving 14 villages in the territory. The affected area of crops reached 12000 mu, causing economic losses of 6.5 million yuan. On May 12, 2008, the earthquake affected 159 cooperatives, 4927 farmers and 14781 people in 28 villages of the town, with a direct economic loss of 7.225 million yuan.
