Xiaqiu town is located in the south of Laizhou City. It covers an area of 64.01 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 37712 (2017). Xiaqiu town is located at the juncture of Yantai and Qingdao, which is a traffic hub between the north and the south. It is 7.5km away from Laizhou Expressway in the south, 40km away from Laizhou port, a first-class open port in China in the north. It is located in the south of Laizhou City. It was named after the town government's residence in xiaqiubao. At the end of Tang Dynasty, Xia and Qiu moved from Pingdu to Licun.
