The town of Tan Ge, belonging to Wushan County, Tianshui, Gansu, is located in the south of Wushan County, east of Longtai Town, Southeast and along anzhen, South to Dingxi, Dingxi, and the west is adjacent to the town of Ma Li, and the north is adjacent to Shandan Town, with an area of 187.33 square kilometers, and the registered residence population is 40483.

In December 1983, Tan Ge commune was transformed into a township. In September 2001, the township was withdrawn and Tan Ge town was built. As of June 2020, Tange town has 8 communities and 22 administrative villages.

In April 1958, there were four townships, Tange, Qingshui, Songshan and Shuiyu; in September, it belonged to Xingfu commune; in December, it was merged into Chengguan commune.
In 1962, Tan Ge commune was established under Tan Ge district.
In August 1965, Shuiyu, Songshan and Qingshui communes were merged into Tange commune.
In December 1983, Tan Ge commune was transformed into a township.
In September 2001, the township was withdrawn and Tan Ge town was built.

Tange town is located at the foot of Taihuang mountain, a branch of the North Qinling Mountains. The terrain is a gourd shaped basin with Shandan river running through from south to north. Taihuang mountain and Tianye ridge are towering in the south, Longshan mountain and hemp ridge are facing each other in the north, tougouliang barrier is in the East, yechi ridge is in the west, and the terrain is dangerous. It has been called "gorge small basin" since ancient times. The highest peak is located in tianyeliang, 3120 meters above sea level; the lowest point is located in shuiyugou, 1673 meters above sea level.
