Majie town belongs to Shangzhou District, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. It is located in the northwest of Shangzhou District, adjacent to Erlongshan Reservoir in the East, yangyuhe town and Chenyuan street in the south, heilongkou town in the West and Dajing town in the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 10.5 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 12.5 km, covering a total area of 84.3 square kilometers.

Historical evolution
It is said that during the reign of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty (1628-1644), hemp was suitable to be planted here. In the Qing Dynasty, the market was formed and renamed Majie, hence its name.
After the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it was named Wenming township.
After October 1949, it was named Majie township.
In 1958, the management area was changed to Ma Street commune.
In 1961, it was changed to Ma Street commune, belonging to heilongkou district.
In 1984, Majie township was changed, and six administrative villages in Xiaoyuan, Gaofeng, Hongwan, Pushang, gaolingmiao and gouge were assigned to Xiaoyuan township.
In May 1997, Majie Township and Xiaoyuan Township were abolished and Majie town was merged.
