It was built in the spring of the sixth year of Jingyao (263) across the Han River from the tomb of marquis Wu. In the old days, the temple of marquis Wu was as numerous as stars. At present, there are still nine large-scale Wuhou temples in China. The Wuhou Temple in Mianxian County, Hanzhong County, Shaanxi Province, was built by the emperor, about 50 years earlier than Chengdu Wuhou Temple, which can be called "the first Wuhou Temple in China".
In 263, the 29th year after Zhuge Liang's death, Liu chancai issued an imperial edict to establish the temple. At that time, because "the capital was built and the ancestral temple was forced", the ancestral hall was located at wuhouping at the foot of Dingjun mountain, near the tomb. This is the only ancestral temple built by the emperor and allocated to yinliang, so it is known as "the first Wuhou Temple in the world". The temple covers an area of more than 80 mu. After more than 1700 years, it integrates ancient architecture, gardens, literature, art, calligraphy and painting, sculpture and color painting. It is a millennium old temple representing the local traditional architectural style of Southern Shaanxi. The temple is rich in cultural relics, with layers of plaques, numerous steles, and many ancient and famous trees. Among them, Tang stele was identified by the State Council as "the first batch of famous calligraphy steles in China" in 1979; ancient cypress has been more than 1700 years old determined by forestry experts; dry lotus is proved to be a rare flower tree in the world, more than 400 years old, and is identified as the "city flower" of Hanzhong City.
