History and culture
Beilin Museum
The forest of Steles, one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units (No.1 stone inscriptions), national first-class Museum, national AAAAA tourist attraction, and one of the 18 special tourist landscapes in China, is the earliest collection of ancient Chinese steles and the most famous collection of Han culture and art treasure house. It is located at No.15 Sanxue Street, Beilin District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province.
The source of the forest of Steles can be traced back to Shitai Xiaojing and Kaicheng Shijing, which were established in the imperial palace of wubenfang in Chang'an, the capital of the Tang Dynasty. The official founder was Lu Dazhong (from Lantian, Shaanxi Province), a famous official of the Northern Song Dynasty. It was built in 1087, the second year of Yuanyou in the Northern Song Dynasty. After generations of collection, the scale gradually expanded. At present, there are more than 11000 cultural relics in the collection, including 134 of 19 kinds (groups) of Chinese treasure level cultural relics and 535 of first-class cultural relics. Four of the famous "six horses of Zhaoling" are hidden in the forest of steles.
The forest of Steles in Xi'an is not only the concentration of stone carving in ancient Chinese cultural books, but also the gathering place of famous calligraphy art treasures in the past dynasties, which has great historical and artistic value. On March 4, 1961, the forest of Steles was listed as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
Wolong Temple
Wolong Temple, also known as Wolong Temple, is located in baishulin street, Beilin District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. It is a national key Buddhist temple in the Han area determined by the State Council. It was founded during the reign of Emperor Ling of the Han Dynasty (168-189).
In the Sui Dynasty, it was called "Fuying Buddhist temple". In the Tang Dynasty, it was also called "Guanyin Temple" because the statue of Guanyin painted here by Wu Daozi was preserved in the temple.
During the reign of Xiantong (860) and Qianfu (874) of Yizong of Tang Dynasty, stone buildings of the toronic Sutra were successively built in the temple.
In the early Song Dynasty, Huiguo, the eminent monk, went to the abbot of the temple and lay high all day long. In the time of Emperor Taizong of Song Dynasty (976-997), Geng temple was named Wolong Temple.
During the Yuan Dynasty, Wolong Temple was rebuilt.
In 1377, the stone tablet was rebuilt again. Now it is still in the east of the main hall. "The stone tablet is like a flower, so it is called the flower tablet.". In 1521, the palace was rebuilt.
In the second year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1852), it was revived as a forest in ten directions, and a monument was erected. In 1868, the hall was rebuilt and the Wolong historical monument was erected. In the 26th year of Guangxu (1900), the Allied forces of eight countries invaded Beijing. Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu took refuge in Xi'an, which brought new prosperity to Wolong Temple. Empress Dowager Cixi rebuilt the temple and built a stone tablet square, which is grand and exquisite. Cixi also personally wrote the plaque of "mercy day of Ciyun" and "three times of dieyao" to the temple, and wrote the plaque of "ten side Wolong Chan forest" for the mountain gate. At that time, lamas and princes of Tibet and Mongolia sent all kinds of tributes and Buddha statues from afar, among which the Buddha statues were ordered to be sent to Wolong Temple for support. So there are many small Buddha statues in the temple.
