Jiangtang town
Gongga County, Shannan City, Tibet Autonomous Region. Located in the northwest of the county, it is adjacent to Qushui County of Lhasa City in the north, and Langjia County in the south, 41 kilometers away from Jitang town. Jiangtang means "vast Pingba" in Tibetan.
It used to be called Jiang Dang. The district was established in 1960, the commune was changed in 1969, the township was changed in 1988, and Jiangtang town was renamed in 1999. It has jurisdiction over five village committees, including Jiangtang village, Bo Village, Gangba village, niangsuo village and cuibu village, with 22 natural villages. The town government is located in Jiangtang village. There are 5040 permanent residents (in 2017), all of whom are Tibetans. The economy is dominated by agriculture with animal husbandry and sidelines. The cultivated land area is 515.4 hectares, mainly planted with highland barley, wheat, beans and rape. The grassland covers an area of 34700 hectares, raising yaks, cattle, goats and sheep. Yanghu power plant, a national key water conservancy project, is located in the town. Convenient transportation, the new expansion of the qu (water) Lang (clip) road through the territory. There are 2 central schools, 7 teaching points and 1 health center. The main temples are Zaduo temple. In addition, there are yangzhuoyongcuo, jiasangqiuri mountain and other places of interest, among which jiasangqiuri mountain is called holy mountain in Tibetan history. It is said that in ancient times, there were 108 springs, 108 temples and 108 caves on the mountain. Every year, Tibetan believers and foreign tourists come in an endless stream.
