Mapo area

Mapo district (town) is located in the north of Shunyi city and the West Bank of Chaobai River. It is located in the Olympic venues and the construction site of Shunyi New City. It is 30km away from the urban area and 8km away from the Capital International Airport. National Highway 101 and Beijing Chengde railway run through the whole area. Shun'an North Road, Fuqian Road, Mapo first ring road and other district and town roads interweave into a network, with convenient transportation. The town has 21 administrative villages with 10850 permanent residents (in 2010), covering an area of 35.1 square kilometers.

Evolution of organizational system

Yamen Village is one of the twenty-one herdsmen made by Shun of the five emperors. It has a history of more than 4000 years and is the oldest village in Shunyi district. Most of the other villages formed in the Ming Dynasty. In the late Ming Dynasty, it was xiangyangli of Shunyi North Road. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Zhengbei road in the East and Xindong road in the West. In 1958, it belonged to Mapo management area of Chengguan commune. In 1963, Mapo commune was established and changed to Mapo Township in 1983. In 1996, it covers an area of 20.6 square kilometers and has a population of 17000. It governs 21 administrative villages including shijiaying, maojiaying, Yaodian, majuan, liangzhengjuan, miaoerjuan, yamen Village, Nihe, Qianqian, Jingjuan, qinwuyao, Baigezhuang, ximapo, dongmapo, xifengle, dongfengle, Xiangyang, xiaosungezhuang, beishangpo, Daying and xiaojiapo. In 1998, Mapo township was abolished and Mapo regional office was set up, which was divided into Shunyi district with an area of 35.1 square kilometers. Baigezhuang Village

Baigezhuang village is located 3 kilometers north of Shunyi City, adjacent to the Olympic venues. Qianqian village is located in the west of Mapo Town, adjacent to Niulanshan town and close to Jingmi highway. There are 437 people in 170 households in the village, covering an area of 1443 mu.
