Yaohe Township

Yaohe township is located in the northeast border of Yuexi County, Anqing City, Anhui Province, known as the northwest gate of Yuexi. Since 1989, it has been the poverty alleviation contact point of the general office of the provincial Party committee. The Northeast borders Chawan Township, Xiaotian Township and pingtian township of Shucheng County, and the southwest borders Zhubo town and Toutuo town of Yuexi County.

The township government is located in SongWan group of Yaohe village, 59 km south of the county and 138 km north of Hefei. Yaohe Township, with a total area of 77 square kilometers, governs 12 administrative villages, 122 villager groups and 7558 people (2017). National Highway 105 crosses Yaohe, Longyan, Xianglu and Longwang villages. Qingyao road passes through Guanshan, Mashi, Shenqiao and tiling villages. The road, cable TV, telephone and electricity are connected to every village. 90% of the farmers drink clean and sanitary water. Historical evolution

Before the establishment of the county in 1936, Yaohe belonged to Shucheng County, the third special district. Yuexi County was set up three districts, Yao River to the third district office, Shen bridge joint protection. In March 1950, Yuexi County was divided into 8 districts, 101 townships and 4 towns. Yaohe belonged to jiutoutuo district and was divided into Xiangyao, Shenqiao, Mashi and tiling townships. In December 1955, Yuexi County was divided into eight districts, one town and 96 townships. Yaohe belonged to Toutuo district and was divided into five townships: Yaohe, Xianglu, Shenqiao, Yangwan and Guanshan. In October 1956, Yuexi County was divided into 8 districts and 44 townships. Yaohe was divided into Toutuo district and Shenqiao and Xiangyao townships. Yuexi County was divided into 14 districts and 86 communes. Yaohe was divided into two communes, Yaohe and Shenqiao. In April 1984, the people's commune system was abolished and the people's governments of Shenqiao Township and Yaohe Township were established. In March 1992, Yuexi County merged the district and township, and the former Shenqiao Township and Yaohe Township merged into Yaohe Township, which got its name because there was a Yaohe River in Yuexi County.

Yaohe township has complex terrain, high mountains, steep roads and deep valleys. It belongs to subtropical humid monsoon climate, with obvious altitude difference and large microclimate difference.
