The government is 25 kilometers away from the county, with an average altitude of 1965 meters. Mixing town is located in the southwest of Yao'an. The town government is 25 kilometers away from the county seat, connecting Taiping town of the county in the East, Shaqiao town of Nanhua County in the south, pupeng township of Xiangyun County of Dali Prefecture in the West and Dahekou township of the county in the north. The total administrative area is 181.34 square kilometers, with dam area accounting for 31.46% and mountain area accounting for 68.54%. Mixing was originally called "mixi". In its early years, it was a swamp area with reeds, mountains and streams. Later, the swamp was changed into good farmland, and the development of people was changed to "mixing". Before liberation, it was mixing town. After liberation, it was mixing District in 1950 and then the Fifth District. In 1958, the county merged with Dayao to be mixing commune. In 1961, it was restored to be mixing commune. In 1983, it was also mixing district. In 1988, it further improved the institutional reform and set up the township as mixing township. In December 2002, it was set up as mixing town. The jurisdiction has undergone several changes. there are 8 villagers' committees, 108 natural villages and 156 villagers' groups under the jurisdiction of mixing town; there are 8 general village Party branches, 3 organ branches under the jurisdiction of the Party committee of mixing town; there are 33 party branches under the jurisdiction of 8 general village Party branches; there are 45 party organizations and 91 party groups in total; there are 886 party members in 2014. In 2013, mixing town governed eight villagers' committees, 108 natural villages and 156 villagers' groups in mixing, Guanzhuang, Dacun, shangtun, Zhujie, Xiaoju, Daju and Hongmei. The total administrative area is 181.34 square kilometers, with dam area accounting for 31.46% and mountain area accounting for 68.54%. The whole town has convenient transportation. Every village is connected with roads. The vast railway passes through the two village committees of Daju and Xiaoju, with a total length of 12.323 km. Yao'an railway station and Daju railway station are also built. It is rich in water resources. There are 2 medium-sized reservoirs under the jurisdiction of the whole town, 11 small (I) and (II) reservoirs under the jurisdiction of towns and villages, which store 8.6 million cubic meters of water, 127 small dams and ponds, and 1.328 million cubic meters of water. There are three markets in the town, viz. Mixing, Xiaoju and Daju, with a total of 21 streets per month. The town is rich in water resources and is suitable for planting rice, wheat, beans and other food crops, as well as flue-cured tobacco, rape and other cash crops. It is one of the main grain producing areas in the county. The main income of farmers comes from agriculture. It is a typical agricultural town in mountainous and semi mountainous areas.

Historical evolution
Yao'an County governs the township. It was daxixiang in the first year of Xuantong in the Qing Dynasty and mixing town in the Republic of China.
