Wulie town

Wulie town is located in the western suburb of Dongtai City, adjacent to Dainan town and Taozhuang town of Xinghua City in the west, Liangduo town of Xinghua City in the south, new national highway 204, provincial highway 304, national highway 228 running through the whole territory, and zhaduo is the seat of the town government. It is said that during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, general Xue Rengui set up camp on this beach. During the Yongle period of Ming Dynasty, gaojiayan collapsed and flooded. After the flood, Liao was the first to move to Chen's family. During the Xuande period, the village was built. It was surrounded by ditches and rivers, so it was named zhaduo. On April 17, 2010, in a new round of Township Reform, Lianyi town and Guangshan town were merged into Wulie town.

In December 2019, Wulie town was selected as "civilized town of Jiangsu Province in 2016-2018".

The origin of place names

Tang Xuehai

Male, born in June 1926, joined the Communist Party of China in June 1943. He was the deputy leader of the militia brigade and township public security officer of Jinsha Township and Xialiu Township in Zixin district. He was arrested and killed in the battle of Hexi in Dongtai City on May 25, 1945.

Chen Weiren

Male, born in February 1924, took part in the revolution in September 1943, joined the Communist Party of China in May 1944, and was the leader of the guerrilla company in Lianyi district. He died in the war in zhaduozhuang south on May 25, 1945.

Xu Wenhua

Male, born in February 1910 in Qutang, Hai'an, participated in the revolution in October 1943, joined the Communist Party of China in April 1944, Party branch secretary and militia instructor of Tangchen Township, Lianyi District, and was arrested and killed in November 1946.

Sun Baomin

Male, born in February 1923, took part in the revolution in March 1943, joined the Communist Party of China in February 1944, and was the vice captain of the military team of Lianyi district. He died in the battle of niguanzhuang in August 1947.

Li Youcun

Male, born in March 1916, took part in the revolution in March 1943, joined the Communist Party of China in February 1944, and was the captain of the military team of Lianyi district. He died in the battle of longmenkou bamboo garden in Xixi in February 1948.

Historical evolution

In May 1949, after Lianyi district was transferred from Xinghua County to Dongtai, the district government moved to zhaduo. In August 1957, after Xixi district was abolished, WuLie township was built in memory of the five martyrs. In 1958, it merged with Guangshan and Lianyi to establish Lianyi people's commune. In 1959, Wulie people's commune was set up from Lianyi commune. In 1984, Wulie Township People's government was established during the reform.
