Mulaoyuan Bulang Yi township is one of the townships in Shidian County, Baoshan County, Yunnan Province. It is located in the east of Shidian County. The township government is 37 km away from the county. It reaches KUKE River in the East and faces Jifei township of Changning County across the river. It borders dianyang town and Renhe township of Shidian County in the west, Bailang Yi Bulang Township in the South and Kasi town of Changning County in the north. Living in Bulang and Yi nationality for generations, it is one of the only two minority townships in the county and one of the 35 poverty alleviation townships in Baoshan City. Due to the poor natural conditions, despite years of poverty alleviation has achieved remarkable results, it is still a typical poverty alleviation township of ethnic minorities, which integrates poverty, backwardness and closeness.
The township government is 37 kilometers away from the county seat. The total area of the township is 76.6 square kilometers. The terrain is roughly three mountains and two depressions. It is said that due to the lack of local water resources, on the second day of February every year, the people of Bulang Nationality kill pigs and chickens by the spring to worship Mulong and pray for water from the Dragon King, so it is named "mulongyuan" and later evolved into "mulaoyuan".
The township governs 4 village committees (mulaoyuan, Longtan, hazhai, Dadi) and 25 natural villages (44 villager groups). The ethnic minorities account for 58.2% of the total population of the township, among which the Bulang population is the majority. It is one of the seven ethnic townships in Yunnan Province. By the end of 2003, there were 1 320 households in the township, including 5 955 agricultural population in 1 328 households, accounting for 50% of the total population of the township There are 3252 ethnic minorities, accounting for 53% of the total population of the township. Houttuynia cordata Thunb, known as "sweet and crisp root", has a broad market prospect, and the animal husbandry industry, which has begun to take shape, has added potential for agricultural development.

There is a junior middle school and 13 primary schools in mulaoyuan Bulang Yi Township, including 4 primary schools, 3 single primary schools and 6 teachers' schools. In 2006, the enrollment rate of school-age children in the township reached 100%, the consolidation rate was 100% and the graduation rate was 100%; the enrollment rate of junior middle schools was over 96.5%, the consolidation rate was 100% and the graduation rate was 100%. There is one county-level highway in the township, with a total length of 51.5 km, three village public highways, with a total length of 18 km; there are 15 village group highways, with a total length of 30.68 km; there are five villagers' groups without access to the highway, and 16 villagers' groups enter the village on simple marble pavement. All 44 villager groups in the township have opened program-controlled telephone, while mulaoyuan village, where the township government is located, has opened broadband information network, but has not yet opened closed-circuit television. The penetration rate of electricity consumption is 100%, and the rural power grid has not been reconstructed. There are 523 biogas digesters and 92 small water kilns.

Although they have no national characters, they have extremely rich Bulang language and national customs. The custom of dress, wedding and funeral is unique, and the changeable dress can be divided into unmarried, married and old people. The love songs sing to each other for a lifetime, the "eight character" betrothal ceremony is for an auspicious day, and the song of marriage is commonly known as "taking people". It's not that the original match can't match the tomb, and the dead can't enter the ancestral grave. Among the national customs, marriage is the most intense. On the night of marriage, people of all ages, men and women, enter the dance floor with cheerful music, and it's not singing until the sun comes out.
New rural construction
Since 2008, with the support and help of superior departments, mulaoyuan Bulang Yi township has carried out new rural construction projects in four villages of mulaoyuan, with a total investment of 8 million yuan. Among them: 1.85 million yuan for Dadi village, 3.2 million yuan for mulaoyuan village, 2.2 million yuan for hazhai village and 2.6 million yuan for Longtan Village. The specific construction contents include the renovation of village appearance and industrial development. Through the new rural construction pilot work of xiamulaoyuan, Dazhaizi, dashuitang, shuigoujiao, dry valley mountain and hazhai natural villages in mulaoyuan village and hazhai village.
