Ruotang town is located at the junction of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces in the north of Xuanwei City, Yunnan Province, 43 kilometers away from Xuanwei City. The town has 18 administrative villages, with a total population of 80403 people living in Han, Hui, Yi, Miao and Zhuang NATIONALITIES (2017). It is the birthplace of general Zhou Jianping, the former commander of the tenth Red Army. Ruotang has a long history and outstanding people. The ancient Southern Silk Road passed through the territory, and today there are more than 400 meters of ancient post roads. In the 16th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, ruantang was a castle in housuotun, and then a post office was set up; in the fifth year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty, a patrol office was set up in ruantang; in the second year of the Republic of China, a county assistant office was set up, and in 1998, the old system was removed to build ruantang town. Ruotang is an important gateway for other provinces to enter Yunnan. The total area is 382.58 square kilometers.

The town has 18 village committees, 167 villager groups and 251 natural villages, including ruantang, Deyi, Fahong and JIUPU. There are five nationalities, Han, Hui, Yi, Miao and Zhong, with a permanent population of 80403 (2017). The town has a land area of 382.58 square kilometers, an average altitude of 1760 meters, an annual average temperature of 14.4 ℃, and an annual precipitation of 980 mm. It is suitable for planting corn, tobacco, potatoes and other crops. In 2006, the total rural economic income of the town was 446 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 2086 yuan. The farmers' income was mainly planting and breeding, labor services, which was a typical agricultural town in mountainous areas.
Historical evolution
Ruotang has a long history and outstanding people. In the 16th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1384 AD), ruotang was a post office in the rear army. In 1651 ad, ruotang was transferred to Zhanyi Prefecture. In the fifth year of Yongzheng reign (1727 A.D.) of the Qing Dynasty, the local government was changed to the local government, and Xuanwei Prefecture was established. In 1816, ruotang was the site of flood. In 1913, Xuanwei Prefecture was rebuilt as Xuanwei County, and ruotang was rebuilt as ruoke County assistant office (the building of ruoke inspection office is still well preserved in the government courtyard of ruotang). In 1931, it was changed into one of the four towns of Xuanwei. After liberation, ruotang was divided into districts and communes. In 1988, ruotang was set up as a town. Ruotang, with profound cultural heritage, is the birthplace of general Zhou Jianping, commander of the 10th army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army. In 1996, Songlin village's "mass grave" and "human head tree" were listed as Xuanwei's patriotic education base. In 2002, the former residence of general Zhou Jianping was listed as the patriotic education base of Qujing City, and in 2005, if the inspection office could be upgraded to a cultural relic protection unit of Qujing City.

In 1994, it invested more than 600000 yuan to build the sports ground of the town government. In 1995, more than 2 million yuan was invested in the construction of the new Minle bridge. From 1999 to 2000, more than 5 million yuan was invested to harden 3.36 kilometers of market town streets and install 40 street lamps. In 2005, 1.1 million yuan was invested to cut off the bend and straighten the main street, 1.3 million yuan was invested to harden the middle section of Jianping Road, and 1.3 million yuan was invested to build a new farmers' market. In 2007, the government office building with an investment of 5.692 million yuan was put into use; the improvement project of No.2 Middle School with an investment of more than 3 million yuan was completed, and the reconstruction project of No.1 middle school with an investment of more than 9 million yuan in the same year was successfully completed.

Ruotang is famous for its rich special products and has a good reputation as "the hometown of yellow tofu". Ruantang yellow tofu is famous for its unique cooking style and flavor of "Yunnan 19 strange, ruantang tofu sold by bolt". It set a daily sales record of 8 tons at the Kunming trade fair and was praised as "one of the best in China" by Japanese friends. It is characterized by delicate texture, fresh and tender taste, slicing, shredding, frying or cold mixing, etc. Songlin sunflower is produced in Songlin ethnic village in the cold hinterland of Northeast Yunnan Province. Sunflower is rooted in acid soil and fertilized by farmyard manure. It has a long growth cycle and abundant light. It has the advantages of full grain, round grain, rich color and thin inner shell. Kowtow does not hurt the gums, eating oil delicate, sweet full surplus, meaningful aftertaste, is a typical pure natural green food. Ruotang is a small town in the south of Wumeng Mountain, famous for producing yellow tofu. Just like Jinhua ham and Tianjin roast duck, ruotang yellow tofu is called by combining place names with specialties. What stands out here is the word "yellow". Most of the tofu we often see is white tofu, which is yellow and square. The ancestor of Chinese bean curd culture is Liu An, the king of Huainan in Han Dynasty. It seems that this wise king will be remembered by the common people forever, because when people raise their jobs, bean curd is an indispensable and ordinary dish on the table. With more than 2000 years of communication and development, tofu has already gone abroad and become a delicious food for all kinds of skin color and race in the world.
