Bianrao town is a town level administrative unit under the jurisdiction of Wangmo County, Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. It was formed by the merger of the original kanbian Township and barao Township, and was officially established on June 11, 2015. Bianrao town is located in the north of Wangmo County, 59 kilometers away from Wangmo county and 256 kilometers away from Xingyi City, where the state capital is located. After the new zoning adjustment, the town covers an area of 253.52 square kilometers, with a total population of 23974 and 17 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. They are mainly inhabited by Buyi, Yao, Miao, Han and other nationalities.
Evolution of organizational system
Guanwen township was established in 1950; bianpao, Bodong and wengdao townships were established in 1953; Dayi commune was incorporated in 1959; 3 commune was established in 1962; kanbian, wengdao and Dajian townships were established in 1984; kanbian township was merged in 1992. In 2005, Dajian township was set up in Wangmo County, with some village groups under its jurisdiction. After the village level integration in 2007, it now has jurisdiction over 7 administrative villages and 44 villages. On June 11, 2015, the town was officially established, merging the original kanbian Township and barao Township into a new bianrao town.

The township governs 17 administrative villages, including barao village, Baoshang village, Bianba village, fuhuai village, xiayun village, BABIAN village, yunpan village, Dingpeng village, Rongchun village, Pojia village, kanbian village, wengdao village, Bodong village, Xinping village, Nawang village, xizuo village and lashao village.
Geography and climate
The highest altitude is 1348 meters, the lowest is 525 meters, and the average altitude is 936.5 meters. The land is wide, including 750 mu of hills, 2210 mu of flat land, 2540 mu of barren mountains and grasslands, 8635 mu of barren mountains and slopes, and 83800 mu of forest land, accounting for 45% of the total area. The cultivated land area of barao township is 16500 mu, including 2150 mu of paddy field and 14426 mu of dry land. Most of the soil is yellow sandy soil, which is suitable for planting various crops. The rain is hot in the same season, the frost free period is long, a few of them are very cold in winter, a few villages are very hot in summer, and most of them are warm and humid all the year round.
